 You should be absolutely fine with 35mm rubber, bearing in mind you are wearing it on those fairly wide Crest rims. I'm on 32mm right now and was thinking to go slimmer but decided to stick with it for extra cushion (important in the dark going over the pot holes).

 I ride about 80% asphalt but also some gravel, bricks/cobbles and sand, so the extra cushion is welcome indeed.
