While you may be inclined to believe that a greater weight means greater strength it in this case is not completely conclusive as the way frames have been made has changed hydro formed aluminum frames don't have the excess aluminum that would've been used as a base to weld the other pieces of the frame together however they are just as strong or even stronger in some cases due to the fact that the frame is more of a single piece (with some minor welds) as apposed to multiple parts wielded together to form the frame (this mostly applies to the front triangle). So unless you compare it to a racing frame the newer frames will hold up to the same beating as this bike, albeit the fact that they are lighter.
