Hate to break it to you but that frame is anodized! The only thing that's gonna strip it is oven cleaner. You're prob best to prime/paint right over as I'm not sure how hard oven cleaner would be on the strength of the frame

god damn you're right man! I thought they were all powder coated but I guess the black is ano... faK! I guess I need to look into a vinyl wrap or something maybe instead. Also thanks for those close ups of your stealth dropper man, looks good!

I used oven cleaner on an anodized bar once. It required fine sanding to get it all off, then required polishing. I doubt vinyl wrap would work given that the surface is essentially pitted from the ano process. I would just dust it with flat black spray paint and try to blend it….

there is a company in toronto that does all sorts of bike finishes. I think its vela colour. Maybe they or someone else could acid dip it to strip off ano while keeping the nice even pitting….?

Thanks man! I'm sending a few emails out to some companies to see what my options are. Really don't want to resort to spraying it myself... this frame is turning out to be a nightmare, hopefully I can sort it out for a decent price

I can't remember the name of the stuff but it worked the paint just bubbled off, although it did not take off the etching primer, I had to buff that off.
