why put a tire tread on your seat? what is the advantage for them?

they do this because they want to prevent from slipping off the saddle, while riding seated in muddy conditions, and its even better to grip the saddle with your knees in those conditions.

there was a bis discussion going on here on PB, because SDG now makes a saddle that already has those "tire threads" built in...
