For their price they're good, but they'd make for terrible brakes in an environment such as downhilling because the power just isn't there. For street riding, dirt jumping, and trails they should be fine. I've got friends who put them on all their bikes and they survive the day.

I have been very impressed with these brakes, especially for the price. I hear some complaints that they aren't powerful enough but I brake using one finger and have never had a problem so I'm not sure what's going on with other people's. PROS: cheap, great modulation, easy to find, reliable, tough (bent a lever pretty bad on a wreck and just bent it back. Still working two years later). CONS: Pain in the a** to bleed, limited adjustability, alignment can be finicky, some riders may look down their nose at you for not using Shimano or Hayes. Currently on AM bike with 200mm HS1 rotors and organic pads.

I got a good brand new second hand TREK dual suspension and it came with Avid Juicy 3,s...not knowing much about the modern MTB and all the gear ...I was just excited at the prospect of hydraulic disc brakes ..suspension all round and 1x11 drivetrain after having coming of a cheapie steel framed 26" V brake with 7 gears....at the start they felt VERY spongy...BUT I was none the wiser and as I got on with my new bike I learnt more and realised that these Juicy,s were entry level...Sooo...I then found a guy who is a guru with MTB,s and he cleaned them out...bled them and new pads in the back and ..WOW!!!!...For me they are BRILLIANT!!!...BUT I must admit , my son has also now got a brand new 2nd hand bike and his came with Shimano XT brales...DEMMITT!!..they are strong ...BUT my Juicy,s are just fine for me...

The Avid juicy 3 is the best bang-for-buck brake ever, it has the braking power of the best brakes and the price of the not so great ones. so if you need brakes take a look at these and you will be impressed.

 Amazing brakes.,

Running the front one on my bike now. Excellent brakes.
Good hydraulic brakes and handy in times of need or just plain showing off.

Had them on my first bike - good stopping power and easy to service. Best brakes for the price range.
