its a bit heavy for a five inch bike but its all in the components so when things wear out you can upgrade to slx rather than deore etc, the ride is unmatched for the money, and with all the modern standards such as tapered head tube, press fit bb etc, youre bot likely to struggle looking for spares or replacements down the line, the only room for improvement is its coil fork, an air one would suit the bike much more... change that and it would be perfect..... even with the coil forks its a sweet bike that punches way above its pricetag

I've put almost 200 miles on mine and it rides just as good as day one. I've taken it on all kinds of terrain and it has held up to everything I've thrown at it. To make a long story short, i love this bike. Good base bike that can be upgraded easy.

Great all around trail bike. Only minor upgrades (Bars, Cranks, Chain) No problems so far. Great price for a good base set up. Plan on changing shifters and derailleurs. A good wheelset (I prefere Mavic Rims on XT hubs) really does wonders for this bike.

Amazing full suspension bike. I had a lot of fun on mine even though I hardly used it but the travel and Maestro suspension works so well together! Its very light too, only fault was that the sizes seemed a bit big to me.

Rode this bike a few times, borrowed from a friend... if I could afford it I would be on one. For the price the setup is middle end, and the ride if set up just right feels true to a hardtail with a FS setup.

Giant 2011 Trance X4 (MSRP $1500) — It’s the lightest aluminum 5-inch travel trail bike ever produced by Giant. The all-new Trance X starts with a radically shaped ALUXX SL aluminum frame featuring trail-tuned geometry and a tapered OverDrive headtube for increased stiffness and steering precision. And it finishes with lightweight, co-pivot Maestro Suspension to help you roll through technical terrain, blitz descents and devour steep climbs.
