This bike will handle ANYTHING you throw at it! Build it up to race or have it as a freeride machine. Those who are worried about the price should compare to other frames of this quality, it does not get much better than VPP suspension! I have mine set up with 888's and am not worried about anything breaking while doing even the gnarliest rock gardens or stunts! Fast, smooth, and sexy. Throw your money worries out the window and buy one already!!

the prefect bike for me. super balanced bike, this bike is the perfect bike park bike for people who want a bike that will feel extremely comfortable on every trail. the 8 inches of vpp suspension feels amazing and even pedals well.

I recommend this bike to anyone. I love mine. It is perfect for steep technical trails and also handles jumping with great ease. It seems to gain speed all on its own with out any help (pedaling just helps). It is a very smooth controlling bike over ruff and bumpy terrain. The bike just naturally boosts confidence in any rider new to the sport or a long time vetran. Not to mention it is probably one of the sexiest bkes out there next to the V-10

Looks to be discontinued. I got a new D8 frame for $870USD. Love the Santa Cruz quality. I put an angle set in it for a 65deg head angle. Boxxer R2C2.
Hardly wait until it stops raining.

Santa Cruz Bicycles Driver 8 (MSRP $2399) — Give us this day our daily... driver. Driver 8 in this case. Named after the much missed former head dog of Santa Cruz, the Driver 8 is a tough beast to categorize. Combining 8 inches of next generation VPP travel with a solidly built chassis that allows 7 inches of up and down seat adjustment - and well thought out details like a super burly pair of long life, low maintenance pivots, a 1.5" headtube, an 83mm bottom bracket with ISCG05 mounts, and a 150mm spacing rear end with a Maxle thru-axle - the Driver 8 is a versatile, tough, fun loving, gravity fed wrecking ball. Daily duty DH racer? Park bike? Freeride bike? Heavy duty hucker? Backcountry bomber? Yep. All of the above...
