Dear Bike Industry - Opinion
Ultimately the solution lies with the people who want to see some change. If you want to see more 26 inch parts then start making them yourself. Right now despite all the whining consumers are buying the new parts every year. As inspiration look at the aftermarket performance market for cars, all sorts of things have become standardized because of the interest and initiative of the consumer and not the Original companies. Look at all the small companies making LS swap kits for every model of japanese car. Or look at the bmx industry for a pretty good example of effective standardization. I challenge everyone on here to attempt to make just one dream part for their own bike and then try to do the math to see what it would take to make and create 100 units and then see who else is interested. Ive already done this experiment myself. It is eye opening.

Matt MacDuff: Loop Of Doom - Video
@bizutch: the YouTube channel playing this video is from Matt's own company so the advertising revenue from the YouTube views goes to him and not Monster, assuming he monetized it. Making money isn't a bad thing.

Matt MacDuff: Loop Of Doom - Video
@bizutch: i have to disagree. It seems to me that this was Matt's idea and project so it was his responsibility to take proper safety precautions. This is a dangerous game and anyone in their mid 20's and up knows the risks. If he wanted more safety precautions he could have insisted on them or simply not dropped in. It's no one's responsibility but his.

Matt MacDuff: Loop Of Doom - Video
This crash was unfortunate but look on the positive side, normal people die all the time tripping on stairs or falling off ladders. Here is a guy who got shot off an upside down ramp the size of an office building and not only lived to tell about it but avoided having a huge array of much more serious injuries. A little spacial awareness and a cool head saved this guy. This shows how resilient the human body can be.

Matt MacDuff: Loop Of Doom - Video
@coot83: it being elliptical reduces the increasing g forces you experience as you accelerate around the loop. Thats why roller coaster loops are elliptical and not circular. In a circular loop the g forces double with every 90 degrees of the loop. In an elliptical loop the steep sides help decrease the g forces you experience. Roller coasters do this so that normal people dont pass out when going around the loop.

Locals: The Free-Racer, Tanner Stevens - Video
In the motorsports world a free racer who just participated in select races instead of the whole series was refered to as an outlaw. A lot of them were privateers who couldnt afford to run a whole series but were good enough to possibly win so they chose races with a big enough purse to justify it. This used to be very common in the sprint car world. Its like all those guys like Will White who ride in the urban downhill race in mexico every year. I think its pretty cool. Its what i like about Rampage, dudes who aren't even freestyle guys come out of the wood work every year to ride in that and many do well, like Gee Atherton. It doesnt necessarily mean you dont work hard or plan to win, it just means you dont want to run the races or events you dont like and if you're a privateer then why the hell not?

Help MacDuff 'Raise the Loop'
Considering how high 40 ft is and how a loop works, how fast do you plan on going to make it succesfully around it? Motorcycle tow in is bs. If its a roll in im down. Id like to hear a marketing plan to get the word out, afterall it's no good having your name on something if noone sees it. Building permits and zoning and use/event permits unless its going to be outlaw but also a contigency plan to reimburse people should things go awry prior to the event. I think its bad ass myself. First guys id hit up about this would be the nitro circus guys.

1 Question - How Long, Low And Slack Can We Go?
Coming from bmx and being focused on jumping, and after having a dh bike id actually like to see a bike with 200mm of travel, a longer toptube but a steeper head tube angle. Personally i like the feel of being a little more over the front wheel. Even on my dirt jumping bike id actually like to keep the steeper steering head but increase the top tube length even more, like to 23 inches or even 24. Im 5'9, 185 pounds so im no giant either.
