The fourth round of the Cascadia Dirt Cup (@casdadiadirtcup) landed near Bellingham, Washington at Larrabee State Park on Chuckanut Drive. The sold out crowd of 275+ racers faced unusually dry and dusty trails that left some shaking their heads and blurry eyed from the super fast and super loose conditions.

Racers from all over the West Coast descended upon Chuckanut in the days leading up to the event. Practice proved to be a critical factor for this race as there were many line choice options.

With loose and unpredictable conditions on super fast and technical trails, many racers opted to wear full face helmets come race day.

Racers rolled out of the venue area on their way to the top of the first big climb of the day. Over the course of the race, Pro and Expert racers would climb approximately 3800 feet and cover 16.5 miles. Some of these racers would be back at the Kali Protectives tent after crashing on course.

After the last wave of racers left the starting line, it was a mellow day on Chuckanut Bay. The venue at Larrabee State Park was an ideal place to spend the afternoon.

While waiting for the racers to return and the results to start trickling in, many people were checking out the scene and soaking up the vibe. It seemed like a good place and time to unveil some of the new products from Kali Protectives. If you look closely, you can see some prototype stuff that is making waves and turning heads. Keep an eye on Kali for this coming season!

As the day unfolded there were many racers who pushed it a little too hard and ended up with crashed and damaged helmets. The Kali Road Warrior was on the scene to keep everyone safe and replace those damaged helmets. Thirteen helmets were exchanged throughout the course of the day. One helmet in particular went to this young man who was rolling around in his wheelchair after a very nasty crash that took him out of the game for a little bit. Now he's got a brand new Kali helmet to keep him safe and sound when he gets back on the bike!

After the last of the racers returned, there was a fantastic awards ceremony complete with a Raffle, Beer Garden, and Taco Truck to keep everyone stoked! The energy was electric as riders compared times and swapped stories from the trail.

"Most of the corners on this trail were full of ruts, dust, or both, so it was challenging to ride fast and stay in control at the same time. I reached the bottom with my legs on fire, aching hands, and a huge grin on my face." said Hannah Bergemann who ended up taking the win in her category. What is the Kali Race Support Program and who is the Road Warrior?

In an effort to support events and racers of all levels, Kali Protectives has launched a new Race Support helmet exchange program in conjunction with the Kali Road Warrior.

We all ride and unfortunately, crashes do happen. Sometimes that happens at an event or race weekend, resulting in your helmet being damaged and unsafe to continue to use. But you have more racing to do. What now? When the Road Warrior attends a scheduled event, registered racers/attendees have the opportunity to submit their crash damaged helmet for inspection, and exchange it for a brand new Kali helmet at no charge. Kali is on hand to ensure riders can continue to compete without worrying about their helmet. Currently, the program is limited to the West Coast, however, we are preparing to launch another Road Warrior and Race Support Program in Canada. Providing this initiative continues to be successful, we may establish Road Warriors in other territories.

If you would like to learn more about the Kali Road Warrior or possibly schedule him to attend your next event, shoot an email to kaliroadwarrior@kaliprotectives.com.
