Malaysian Rainforest MTB Downhill Challenge 2015 - Round Two

Kledang National Park, located on Saiong hill about 10 minutes from Ipoh Town, saw a rude awakening last Sunday, 07th August. The presence of riders both locals and participants from Singapore and Vietnam turned the town into chaos! Some as early as seven in the morning being at the track. Sounds and wails from the loudspeakers, welcoming both riders, honoured guests and spectators. The event kicked off at 0930 in the morning with riders going through a single trail before being led into the roots and ruts section that moves on downhill on a rock garden which ends crossing a bridge. A section, covered mostly in moss and slippery from the flow of spring water, this roots and rocks section is also lightly lighted even in daylight conditions due to the giant leaf gatherings overhead that form canopies that sit on giant tropical trees.

"I'm not going to use the common line!!", Dom (Branjos) Yong-Hendroff cried out before the race.

A track that is about 1.4KM in length, it is also a mix track downhill - freeride. The second section with jumps, berms, tabletops, gap and hip jumps also drop offs. Pretty compact and an effort from the "Neighbourhood Team".

At the hour of the final 15 last men to head down and shred the track, a heavy downpour but that was not a deterrent!
