May 5, 2022Rocky Mountain Instinct 999 MSL Large
$2600 USDThis is a 2016 Rocky Mountain Instinct 999 MSL
This is a fantastic bike that has definitely been used but don't let that deter you, it's still extremely solid.
Parts have been removed/added so here's the rundown:
Frame: Smoothwall Carbon. ABC + BC2 Pivots & Grease Ports. Press Fit BB. Internal Cable Routing. ISCG05 Tabs. RIDE-9 Adjustable Geometry + Suspension Rate
Fork: Fox 32 Float Fit4 Adjust Kashima. 130mm. Rebound / Firm - Medium - Adjustable Open Settings / Tapered Steerer
Shock: Fox Float DPS Kashima Remote Custom Valved. SmoothLink Design 130mm. Rebound / Remote Firm - Medium - Open Settings / EVOL Air Sleeve
Wheels/Hubs: NOBL Carbon 29" Tubeless / DT 240 Hubs, rear has 54T upgrade, no boost, cush core in the rear tire
Crank: Race Face Next SL 170-175mm 36/26T 1x11spd
Bottom Bracket: Race Face Cinch 30mm BB92 Pressfit
Rear Der: Shimano XT
Brakes: Shimano XT M8000
Bars: Race Face Carbon 760mm
Dropper: Race Face Turbine
Saddle: Specialized Mimic 155mm
The weight comes in somewhere around 27lbs.
Things to note: The dropper is a piece of junk and won't hold air, drops just fine but needs a hand to raise it up. The remote for the shock barely seems to work if it works at all. I've had the shock rebuilt and serviced but I can't really tell a difference when I use the remote. There is a good amount of surface abrasion but nothing that is structural.
Lots of carbon and extremely capable for 2016, asking $2600OBO, buyer pays for shipping and I'm OK with splitting paypal fees.

May 4, 2017Rocky Mountain Element 970 RSL BC
$2100 USDThis is a MEDIUM 2013 Rocky Mountain Element 970 BC and this bike RIPS. This beauty has seen a few minor crashes and some miles but she's been well maintained and as of last week had a COMPLETE overhaul; all bushings were replaced, seals/oil/etc... replaced on fork and shock, the Reverb was sent into RS for service and the internals were swapped with their newer hardware, rear brake was bled, bike was cleaned, etc... she is ready to ride! Seat in photo is not the Rocky seat that will be included (it is in good condition). The only problems are cosmetic: minor clear coat delamination and scratches (as seen in photos). Willing to work on the price with you.
I added the bashguard, 36T RF NW and a WT 42 to go 1x10.

Opinion - It Should Be Hard, Shouldn't it?
It blows my mind that people won't simply choose C but go out of their way to dig up rocks, build shitty armoring and cut roots just so they don't have to do A or B. There are definitely some moves where I'm constantly practicing as I'm only able to ride the feature 25% of the time and there are definitely moves where I just walk it but never do I want to make it easier.

Opinion - It Should Be Hard, Shouldn't it?
Over the last ~2 years the conversation of strava being one of the sanitizers of our local trails comes up. I think, at least around here, that plays almost as large of a part of trail sanitation as do the riders who purposely make something easier by removing a feature. We have a large mountain biking community with a lot of competitive people and strava makes it possible to always be competing. If you ride enough and know the trails you begin to see which lines were changed for strava and which ones were changed for ease of use, regardless of why they were changed, they were. That's not to say that trails can't or shouldn't change but if there was a feature where the trail was purposefully routed for a tech move or other feature, why must you sanitize it?!

Wolf Amongst The Sheep - Story About Your Neighbour's $20,000 Problem With Stolen Bikes
WAddict, I live in Grand Junction, CO, city of ~60k, valley population of ~150k, so small'ish. Obviously it was more luck than anything, I had already started the homeowners insurance claim and was looking forward to the prospect of replacing two nice bikes with two brand new nice bikes. Apparently when tweakers steal your bikes and drive around with a broken ass plate-less trailer full of stolen goods, expired tags on the car and erratic driving the police tend to take notice.
