This year MEC Barrie will be taking is annual Bikefest to the Hardwood Ski and Bike trails in Oro-Medonte, about 15 minutes north of Barrie. Hardwood is the proposed site of 2015 Pan Am Games Mountain Biking competition. Hardwood offers riders an opportunity to explore over 80 kilometers of terrain, both double and single track as well as test their skills on the pump track and other obstacles.
Bikefest has something for the seasoned rider as well as the beginner looking to try mountain biking for the first time. Clinics include beginner to advanced guided rides, first aid on the trail, race tactics, yoga for cyclists, as well as a variety of skills and maintenance clinics.
Vendors will be showcasing their products and services and participants will have the opportunity to demo bikes from local bike shops and manufacturers as well as take advantage of scoring a deal at the MEC Gearswap.
With the strong presence of mountain bikers in the area it is the hope that the event will draw a large crowd with the discounted trail passes for $5 and the beautiful weather we have on the way!
