It's rare a summer Wednesday in Whistler where no DH race is being held. Such an unlikely occurrence results in a plethora of energy and creativity frantically seeking an outlet to art and adrenaline.
On such an evening Whistler locals Rafaella Dice and Kat McGill hosted a pump track party to feed the masses of a hungry mountain bike mob.
The idea had come about many times over the years but never really manifested into anything concrete or momentous. This year, however, with eyes on the calendar, the girls knew this upcoming raceless Wednesday would have many racers, and thus talented pump track riders, available on a day where they would normally be chasing the Phat Wednesday clock and skulling pints at the GLC. They had to get a head start on this organic radical night if it was in fact going to go down.
Like clockwork, the herd of bikers responded by the dozens and it quickly became the talk of the week. What started as a night jam began to sound like a rager. Rumours of a generator and BBQ spread and things really started to come together. Christmas lights, music, beers and dawgs decorated every berm, roller, lip, and tranny!
Even local camera kids showed up with the gear to grab the Nugz.
It wasn't long before things took on a life of their own and a full on PUMP TRACK PARTY was born!
