This is no Walmart bike, for those of you who don't know. Look it up if you haven't heard, but Mongoose makes some really great bikes now, and this is one of them!

I have a 2008 Mongoose Black Diamond Medium with top-shelf parts, in great shape that I bought late last summer. It has been lightly used, and very well maintained. It is spec'ed with hi end 2008 parts, mostly bits from SRAM, Truvativ, Avid, RockShock, etc. with a few exceptions. Most importantly: I upgraded from a mushy-feeling Fox DHX 5.0 to the highly regarded, and truly superb Cane Creek Double Barrel, which is a favorite of many racers for it's high performance and broad range of adjustability. It was the first shock on the market to offer both high and low speed compression and rebound - independently; although the design has seen a few tweaks, the same basic design remains to be THE shock to beat for performance in the industry - It was a 400 dollar shock, used. The damper uses Ohlins racing shock technology, and operates on different principles than the normal shim stack shock. The bike has all new rear pivot bearings and pins.

This bike is a great do-it all freeride bike. It is an extremely efficient peddler for having 7.5" of rear travel. Not the lightest bike, especially by 2012 standards, with all the new super-light all-mtn./freeride bikes, but it pedals up hills exceptionally well for its weight and travel. The fork is SUPER stiff and burly, always holds a steady line on the descents. I've used it mostly as a trailbike, which is why I am trying to sell the bike, it's just overkill for me. When I have gotten around to bringing it to lift access trails, it's a beast. It absolutely crushes rock gardens, jump trails, ladder bridges, etc. but it can also get you to the top if you're willing to drop a gear, sit in the saddle, and punch it!

I am willing to hear any offers, or any trades for lighter duty AM bikes (5-6 inch).
