2008 GT Avalanche 3.0, Cheap in need of some TLC

2008 GT Avalanche 3.0 size 17"

Used as our all around beater bike and commuter, was stolen back in 2010 and recovered. Hasn't been used since we recovered it, just been sat in the corner of the garage for a few years. With a bit of money spent on it, it'll build into a decent entry level trail bike or commuter.

The Good;

Upgraded brakes, Hope M4s with 200mm front rotor and a 180mm rotor on the rear. These brakes can stop a bus, plenty of life left in the pads and NOT in need of any attention. Tyres are in good condition with loadsa tread, wheels are straight and good.

The Bad;

Needs a new cassette, chain and rings. Shifting is terrible and the chain has a tendency to slip whilst in gear. Saddle needs replacing as it has some rips that have been taped up. Seat clamp doesn't look too clever either.

The Ugly;

Has slight chips and marks on the frame's top tube, down tube and non drive side chain stay where thieves sawed through a bike lock. Tried to photograph all the markings.


Priced to sell, if you spent another £50 getting it road/trail worthy you'd have a much better ride than whatever POS you could buy from Halfrauds for £100.
