The Mega AM Pro marries the evolution of our 160mm Enduro/AM frame with a high-end parts list for a bike that’s ready to take its place on any Alpine starting line.
Designed for All-Mountain adventure, Alpine playtime and Megavalanche-style Gravity Enduro events, the Nukeproof Mega AM has been refined and improved for 2013 with rear travel increased to 160mm and an all-new custom hydroformed tubeset for increased front-end stiffness and improved strength-to-weight ratio.
The Mega AM Pro is available with coil or air rear shock options – Cane Creek Double Barrel or RockShox Monarch Plus RC3 - and features 170mm RockShox Lyrik RC2 forks up front, SRAM XO transmission, quality Nukeproof finishing kit and SRAM Reverb Stealth dropper seatpost.
Custom hydroformed frame with Erosion Linkage suspension
The Mega AM Pro frameset is engineered from custom hydroformed double-welded T6 6061 aluminium, with our Nukeproof ‘Erosion’ linkage giving a smooth progressive suspension action with a well controlled mid-stroke to avoid wallowing under pedal loads.
Oversize main pivot bearings are contained in a bespoke CNC-machined Bottom Bracket assembly to ensure alignment, durability and precision, while an asymmetric chainstay design gives clearance for a front derailleur and compatibility with all leading models of ISCG 05 - mounted chain retention systems.
Geometry is based around a slack 66deg head angle and steep 75deg seat angle, with a long wheelbase keeping the centre of gravity low for optimum stability at speed.
Alpine-ready components package
RockShox Lyrik RC2 DH Solo Air forks provide 170mm of burly, rock-munching suspension up front, in an air-sprung package that’s still light enough for climbing. Infinitely tunable for rider preference, the Lyriks feature 20mm Maxle Lite thru-axle for precision tracking, flex-free braking and optimum front-end stiffness.
With suspension this good you need parts that will meet the challenge of the downhill hammer as well as the uphill haul – so we’ve specced a full SRAM X0 transmission with Truvativ Descendant 1x10 crankset (36t and 34t rings included) and SRAM X0 chainguide making sure everything stays where it’s supposed to. Add the dependable, fade-free braking performance of Avid X0 Trail disc stoppers – essential for long Alpine descents – and you’ve got the perfect AM package.
The Nukeproof Mega AM Pro also features the remote-activated RockShock Reverb Stealth hydraulic dropper seatpost with infinite seat-height adjustment and control of your return speed – the perfect match for a bike with All-Mountain intentions and an essential edge in competition.
Finishing kit on the Nukeproof Mega AM Pro comes courtesy of our own tried and tested Warhead series of components. Our Nukeproof Generator AM wheelset is a slimmed-down version of our classic DH hoops, reducing rotational weight without compromising long-term durability or the ability to take big hits on the chin. Matched with peerless Maxxis High Roller 2.35” rubber, it’s a wheelset that can be pushed to the limit on the downs, without being a drag on the ups.
Our Warhead headset, stem and 760mm riser bars combined with Element lock-on grips make a fuss-free cockpit setup for the most aggressive of gravity pilots, while our Nukeproof Trail Mega saddle is a comfortable perch for short-blast racing or the longest of big-country days.
