This was What Mountain Bike bike of the year in 2011. It has been used for (mostly woodland) trail riding (nothing major, rooty rocky stuff with no massive drops or jumps). I've looked after it, it's never seen much winter riding, the forks and shocks have been regularly serviced and the torque on the frame bolts has been regularly checked (they have a lifetime guarantee I believe). I'm a bit gutted to part with it as it suits my style perfectly, but I've decided to go down the aggro 29er route and can't keep two trail bikes in the house.

I have swapped out a wide range of components to generally make the bike more aggressive than the stock version. The forks were 120mm Fox 32s, they are now 150mm Fox 34 CTDs. The brakes have been upgraded to SLX M675 brakes and rotors... these still top loads of best five lists. The stem has been shortened and the bars widened. I've removed the triple chainrings and replaced with a Race Face narrow wide and a Zee mech (I absolutely love this combo and have never dropped a chain since fitting it). The front wheel has been upgraded to an Easton EA70 to allow QR15 forks to be used (the previous forks were QR). The chain and cassette are brand new (never ridden). The shock bushes have recently been replaced with Fox low friction bushes

Fitting the forks has slackened the bike out by about 1.5 degrees, but it's actually still a remarkably stable climber. The frame is well made and sturdy, and I've never had a problem with the longer axle to crown on the new forks.

I like to be clear about what I'm selling, so here are the issues, all minor I would say:
*The rear shock has been recently serviced, with main seals replaced, but the pro pedal lever hasn't worked for about the last two years. TF Tuned suggested that this is just a seal change job, but I never bothered as I don't really use it.
*Though I've looked after it, the frame is scuffed and scratched in a way that's consistent with it's age... the right chainstay looks a little battered (forgot my protector on a couple of rides), but it's all mechanically sound.
*The headset is stock, and honestly one of the worst headsets I've ever used. They still fit them on a load of £2000 - £3000 grand bikes though.

WHEELS: Easton EA70 (15mm axle) (black) front (needed to switch front wheel to fit forks); Alex SX 44 Disc (XT hub - 9mm QR) rear.
BRAKES: original SLX replaced with new SLX (M675) and rotors
TYRES: Schwalbe Muddy Mary trailstar (2.5) front/On One chunky monkey rear (2.4)
