When I acquired this 2007 Santa Cruz Nomad in 2013, it was already well used. I rode it for a couple of years and then in 2015 converted it to a e-bike with an e-zee ebike 450w conversion kit, see attached for parts list and prices. Also comes with a high-end charger, charges bike in a couple of hours, on or off the bike.
I use this bike weekly on trails all across the North Shore, rain or shine. It has never let me down (aside from the 2 wheels I tacoed). Added a new doublewall downhill rim and that has proven very reliable. Each charge lasts about 2 hours of hardcore trail riding. The battery is a beast, 48v x 10a - and has never fallen off, secured well to bike. It does not have enough power to spin tires, it performs much like a pedal-assist, wide-open it offers enough assist to get up Old Buck at about 10km/h. Yes, I do hit my knee on the battery periodically, but not enough for me to whine about it.
Built it because I wanted something I could use to ride trails efficiently. I wanted to go up quickly, and then down, and not spend the entire day doing it. I have kids, wife, 2 jobs, I can't afford to spend several hours on the mountain. Mission accomplished. It could easily be used for a commuter as well by swapping out the knobbies for street tires.
Selling it because I am buying a higher-end e-bike.
Let the flaming begin :)
