NOW MASSIVELY REDUCED - it's got to go!!

It is with much sorrow and regret that today I announce the passing of my beautiful hardtail. Passing, that is, from my stable to someone else’s - it’s for sale. I’m extremely sad to see it go, but I’ve moved into a flat and need to thin the herd.

I built the bike up for an Alps crossing, bike packing through the Austrian Alps and into the Italian Dolomites, the summer before last. Much of the kit was new for this ride, and has had two weeks of mileage on it; it’s been sat looking reproachfully at me ever since, whilst its full-sus brother gets all the action. It’s an absolute rocket, both up and down, with a lovely short back end that keeps it nimble and poppy, and a 67.5 degree head angle for the steep stuff. It’s everything a titanium bike should be.

The drivetrain is virtually new. Everything works exactly as it should; there are no duff bits or ‘this-will-need-replacing’ caveats. There is the usual scuffing to decals and occasional chip, as you’d expect with something which has been used for its intended purpose! However you’d be hard pressed to notice, and one of the joys of titanium is that the frame buffs up as good as new.

Even though it’s built to handle an alpine beating, everything has been chosen to keep weight down. This is a sub-22lb build. It flies.

Full spec is:

17.5” Genesis Titanium frame. From my measurements, with this fork, it yields a top tube of about 595mm.
140mm Rockshox Revelation RL, 15mm maxle. I’ve replaced the handlebar remote with a fork top dial to keep the clutter down. With this fork the head angle measures out at about 67.5 degrees
Full XTR 980 drivetrain (2x10 derailleurs and shifters, clutch rear with carbon cage) with 11-34 XT cassette. The drivetrain is virtually new
XTR 970 triple cranks, set up as a double with 22/38 TA Specialities rings. These are older and more scuffed (i.e. they’ve been to Wales a few times!), but will last forever
Stans Crest wheel set, with Hans Dampf 2.35 in the front and Nobby Nic in the rear
Formula R1 brakes with braided hoses, and 180mm KCNC rotors front and rear
Easton Haven Carbon bar, with Superstar silicone grips
Hope headset and seat collar
superlight KCNC scandium seat post and On-One CNC stem (choice of 50 or 70mm)
Selle Italia SLR XC saddle

It’s tubed at the moment, but the wheels are taped for tubeless and the tyres are suitable, so with valves and sealant you can set it up that way.

The seat tube is 31.6 so pretty much any dropper will fit. It isn’t set up for stealth routing but I’ve seen frames drilled with good results (my FS is!) if you just gotta have the look.

If you want a more XC, head-down set-up, replacement air shafts are available to reduce fork travel in 20mm increments, for about £25. With lighter rubber and a shortened fork it’s raceable; as it stands, it’ll take anything you point it at. It’s a super-versatile bike and I’ll miss it, but it needs someone to ride it more than I can!

The bike is in Sheffield. I can box and ship it if need be, but pickup would of course be preferred! Any q's, please get in touch.
