2005 Specialized Epic Comp Size Medium

For sale is my 2005 Specialized Epic Comp. It has been a very fun bike but I just don’t ride enough cross country, or any at all, to justify having it. I’m selling it too to make room for a freeride bike. If you have one let me know because I might want to trade.

I bought the frame a little over a year ago and built it mainly from parts I had around. The wheels are hand-built by me too, around Shimano SLX hubs. I just bled the brakes a few days ago so they feel great. The Specialized and Fox Brain shock works very well, making the bike feel like a hardtail when closed but as soon as you hit a large enough bump it opens and allows the suspension to be fully active. The rear travel is actually 90mm but there is no option for that under travel. The air-sprung Manitou M30 (a real M30 not a weird knockoff) works well too and has a full hydraulic lockout (ABS+) with hydraulic rebound damping.

The frame is largely free of scratches and has no dents. There are some scratches on the fork’s lowers and a scuff on the stanchion but above the travel range and only cosmetic. (see the pictures) The only other problem is the derailleur has a bit of trouble hitting first gear but it does it. Other than that the bike is in great shape.
