2018 Norco Optic Carbon 29" Frame MD

Also, it's very safe for hunting season. It's bright orange.

Purchased as frame, built and ridden as a capable XC race bike - this poor Norco Optic has been sitting for more than a year waiting for its new home. Intended at the time by Norco as more than an xc race bike but not full trailbike - this features 110mm travel from a 190x50mm shock (not included) and used a 120mm fork. Norco offered it with a 130mm fork a year or two later, though. With a light 120mm fork this is basically a modern xc race bike, Norco either saw the future or got lucky - I'm not sure which. It is compatible with baggy shorts as well as Lycra. Aspens or DHFs.

This bike was purchased as a frame-only in late '18, built in Spring '19, then ridden occasionally to keep my sanity during lockdown until Fall '20. Used for maybe 16 months - this bike shows signs of use (heel rub and cable rub on the ISCG mount under the bb) - it is a mountain bike - and has one bolt replaced with a now rusty steel bolt (see photos) for character like those Abercrombie Jeans the kids wore in middle school - but is in better than average shape for a used mountain bike. Or maybe not. I don't know I'm the one trying to sell this to you - maybe I'm not objective.

Worth mentioning, I guess - this is for 29" wheels and uses Boost rear axle (148x12). You can even ride it if you said "Twenty six for life" just a decade ago.

It has internal cable routing for shift/brake/dropper post. It uses an IS42|IS52 headset and 31.6mm seatpost. I rode with a 150mm dropper but surely could have 175mm dropper post if I wasn't lame and actually used it. It uses a PF92 bottom bracket but since I know how to install them, it never creaked - gasp.

I'm 5ft 9.5in tall with 74cm saddle height and this bike fit me well. Generally, I rode MD Specialized before they changed sizes, ride a MD Cotic Flaremax, MD Surly Karate Monkey and ride 54cm road/cx/GRAVEL bikes. I left the shift housing in place to assist when rebuilding it, and also left the bottom bracket since I couldn't use it on the new bike. I thought I might rebuild this as full xc-dork-race-bike but quit riding and started running. Only selling this to buy running shoes.

I can probably find the orig headset (FSA, never used) if that will help whoever buys it.

For all the details I forgot - visit https://www.norco.com/bike-archives/2018/optic-c-framekit/ - just don't tell me how bad their new website is - I know. Remember your sunglasses.

If you don't live here in WNC - please don't come visit, I'll package it up real nice, and ship with insurance by Bike Flights. If you do live here in WNC, we can meetup somewhere not too sketchy like a bank so I can make sure your check/cash is good. Or payment by Paypal so we're both secured-ish.
