Ibis Szazbo Vintage Full Suspension Mountain Bike blue - size: Large


This Ibis Szazbo is a vintage full-suspension mountain bike that harkens back to the days when manufacturers were developing several different designs of full suspension and the URT (unified rear triangle) was developed in many iterations. The concept is that the bike should be stiffer when standing and pedaling hard and more plush while seated on the saddle during bumpy downhills. This sounded good to those who preferred a better pedaling bike than the overly soft and underdamped suspension designs of the day. Eventually the URTs went away as suspension designs evolved and the reverse was developed (bikes that were more firm when seated and more active when standing on the pedals).


This bike has collectible value in the parts alone, including the XT derailleurs, Syncros seatpost, Chris King headset and made-in-Italy Marzocchi Bomber. But, it can still serve as a light duty mountain bike; just don't expect it to withstand multiple jump and drop sessions on the local Santa Cruz gnar. A great option for the devout Ibis fan. The frame serial number is 125500.



With a 22" effective top tube and a 15.4" seat tube (c-c), the unique design of this bike makes it size like a large and this bike should fit most riders in the 5'9" to 6'0" range.

This Ibis Szazbo is in overall Very Good used condition. There are a few minor cosmetic blemishes here and there (scrapes and scuffs) from normal usage. There are a couple of minor paint chips (see photos). There is some paint rubbed off on the driveside rear triangle. Mechanically, the bike is tuned, the suspension is functional and upon re-assembly by a qualified mechanic, the bike should be ready to ride for those who understand that this is a vintage MTB.
