LEICHTBAU FRAMESET

Meet # 196. The Leichtbau Carbon Frameset (54 cm) is one of only 200 being ridden around the globe. I am selling a complete bike. It is built with Sram Red eTap AXS electronic group, premium Zipp 353 NSW Wheelset, Zipp SL-70 Aero Bar with SupaKaz Bar Tape, Zipp SL Speed Stem, Prologo Scratch M5 PAS CPC saddle, BB Infinite Bottom Bracket, Cannondale Carbon Bottle Cages and Look Keogh Blade Carbon Pedals. Its beautiful black matte finish with chrome aesthetics will turn heads. According to Cannondale, the Lab 71 uses the same carbon construction as the Leichtbau. Its tube shapes are designed to reduce aerodynamic drag. The Leichtbau was ridden by pro cyclist Rigberto Uran at the Vuelta.

The ultralight carbon frameset reportedly weighs only 750 grams, including all hardware. The build with pedals and bottle cages weighs 14.66 pounds (6.5 kg) which is lighter than the UCI minimum weight of 14.99 lbs. (6.80 kg). My first ride was on May 21, 2023. I find the Leichtbau to be smooth on the road, fast, great on climbs and fun to ride. No scratches, chips, rubs and never in a crash. To protect against chips, there is paint protection film installed by a professional car detailer, (same as used on high end cars), on the chain and seat stays, under the down tube, on the fork design and on the seat tube facing the rear wheel. The frameset and wheel rims were ceramic coated to shield against ultra violet rays. The frameset is in like new condition. Begrudgingly, I am selling my dream bike because a 56 cm frame is a better fit for me.

ZIPP 353 NSW

The Zipp 353 NSW is an upper tier all-around wheelset. Its performance to the next level. Because of its design, reviewers have stated that it combines the speed of an aero wheel with the stability of a shallow wheel. Reportedly, the wheelset has undergone over 40,000 miles of testing. “Bike Radar” stated in a review that the 353 NSWs are” light, fast, stable, beautifully made.” “Better than 5 star performance.” The reviewer stated that “Overall, the 353 NSWs are just about the best all-round wheel I’ve ever tested.”
According to Zipp, the wheels are used by such professional teams as Movistar, Q36.5, Lotto Dstny, Ccache and Parkup.

The 353 NSW is a tubeless disc brake hookless wheelset with a 45mm rim depth, a 25mm internal rim width and has a reported weight of just 1255 grams (580 grams front and 675 grams rear – without tape and valve). My set has an XDR freehub.

In addition to their fast spin up and speed, I find the wheels to be extremely comfortable on the road and stable in the wind. With its light weight and race-like performance, I feel that that 353s complement the bike well. The wheels come mounted with the Pirelli PZero Race TLR SL tyres (700 x 28c) which reportedly weigh only 275 grams. The puncture resistance has been good. The wheelset is in like new condition.

When I spoke to Zipp in April, 2024, I was told that the 353 NSW is currently out of stock.

ZIPP SL-70 AERO BAR AND ZIPP SL SPEED STEM

The Zipp SL-70 Aero Bar is 42cm wide with a black matte finish, 70mm reach and a 128mm drop. According to Zipp, the bar saves 6.4 watts over a round tube section bar top. “Road CC” stated in a review that the SL-70 delivers a “great ride and performance.” To me, the Zipp bar has virtually no flex and is comfortable on the road. It reportedly weighs only 240 grams. The aero bar comes complete with Supacaz Super Sticky Kush Star Fade bar tape (Platinum/Ano Platinum) and Zipp’s integrated computer mount. The bar tape is one of the best that I have ever ridden. It is comfortable and, so far, has shown no wear.

The carbon Zipp SL Speed Stem is 100mm/6 degrees and just weighs 123 grams. It has a matte black natural carbon finish and is stiff. The bar, bar tape, stem and integrated computer mount are in like new condition. The Zipp package of the wheels, bar and stem give the bike a matching and unison look.

PROLOGO SCRATCH M5 PAS CPC SADDLE

Prologo makes high performance saddles. It partnered with 7 World Teams in 2024. To name a few, it is the exclusive supplier for INEOS Grenadiers, one of the world’s most prestigious and successful cycling teams; and, UAE Team Emirates led by champion Tadej Pogacar.

I realize that saddles are very personal. What may be good for one rider may not be for another. I chose Prologo because of its innovative and superior products. The Scratch M5 PAS CPC Saddle is designed with a Multi Sector System providing independent zone pads for added comfort. It also has a Perineal Area System (PAS), an open channel to relieve pressure peaks and contact points while riding. The saddle’s dimensions are 250 mm long x 140 mm wide, has nack rails and weighs a reported 150 grams.

BOTTOM BRACKET

The bike is built with the BB Infinite bottom bracket. It’s a one-piece press fit system with ceramic bearings and is coated. I chose this bottom bracket because a mechanic that worked on the pro tour highly recommended it over competing brands. I have found the BB Infinite to be durable with no mechanical issues, noise or creaking whatsoever.

WATER BOTTLE CAGES AND PEDALS

The sale includes Cannondale’s matte carbon bottle cages (2) with each having a reported weight of 28 grams and Look Keogh Blade Carbon Pedals.
