If you want to do daredevil downhill this isn’t the bike for you. If you want to be super lite at 23 pounds and go super fast on a variety of terrain then this is the bike for you. This bike is often called a “soft tail” since it splits the difference between hard tails and full suspensions. It has a full suspension but is as lite as a hard tail. This is the top of the line 9.9 build with an original MSRP of $9,500.

I bought this bike from the original owner in January. I took it to a Trek store for a professional and thorough evaluation (see photo of their write-up). I then told a Trek dealer I was doing a 72 hour long race and couldn’t afford any issues, so make it as reliable as a new bike. After $1,100 (see credit card screenshot!) I ended up with a brand new derailer, new shifters, new chain, new chain ring, new brake pads, new brake rotors, new grips, new tires/sealant, front shock service, and a full tuneup.

On 3/23 the prior owner had a Trek dealer replace the hub bearings, the bottom bracket, headset, and stem. (See inspection report from the Trek store).
