The Mayor’s Provo Bicycle Committee is a citizen group that works on bicycle advocacy and education issues in the city.
Some of the past accomplishments of the Provo Bicycle Committee include: spearheading Provo’s recognition as a Bicycle-Friendly City, advocating for and contributing heavily to the Provo City Bicycle Master Plan, running Bike Month and Bike-to-School Week events, advocating for improved bicycle infrastructure and funding (the new lanes on Independence Ave, improvements and added signage on the Provo River Trail, and dozens of other examples), coordinating with BikeUtah on events and legislation, providing education about bicycle safety and laws, and running dozens of events throughout the city.
Provo Bicycle Committee meetings are generally held on the first Thursday of each month from 5-6pm at the Community Policing building in downtown Provo (48 North 300 West, Provo). Attendees often include representatives from city Engineering, Parks and Rec, Provo Police Department, the Provo City Council, the Utah County Health Department, and more.
