The Wine Lands Cycling Club (WLCC) began in the Helderberg area in 2004 through a small group of cycling friends who enjoyed regular group rides. Formerly known as the Wannabees Cycling Club. The club has since grown to over a two thousand members across all levels, ages and abilities. Although the club, when founded was primarily a road cycling club, the development of MTB trails has quickly grown a strong group of Mountain Bikers.
The club has developed and manages +- 250km’s of MTB trails across more than 20 farms as well as a community Bike park trail in a Municipal Park in Somerset West. The Southey Vines/Geelsloot Bike Park has hosted the Spur Schools league since 2013. The aim of the club is to support and nurture cycling in all it’s disciplines in the Helderberg Area. We support events that cover Road, MTB and Track Cycling
The WCC is a volunteer based multi-discipline cycling club that facilitates & promotes cycling activities for its members within the local community. This includes education and development of the sport as well as the building and managing of off-road trails through agreements with local land owners. The club is affiliated to formal cycling structures within SA.
The Winelands Cycling Trails are located between Somerset West and Stellenbosch in the greater Helderberg area. The Trails are managed by the Winelands Cycling Club (WCC).
