As for Weed, it was featured in Steinbeck's book "Of Mice and Men"; great book, would highly recommend reading it.

Of Mice and Men, not a bad book but believe me, nothing 'exceptional'. You can read into it quite a bit though and it really does express the short comings of the traditionally viewed 'American Dream' How the for farthers whole reason for coming to America was flawed and how the people now mirrored exactly why the country was formed away from Europe. Pretty good book actually!
