OK guys, so lately we've learned that hosting actual races on public trails can be pretty risky considering angry neighbors, ranger attention, trail traffic, and what not. I've been thinking about this for a while and the idea just came to me that we can just use our GoPros (or Contours, or phones duct taped somewhere on the bike) to time ourselves and post the videos and times to pinkbike as an ongoing race! Simple right? Just film your run, get your time, and upload the video here. Hopefully this thread catches on and we'll have a bunch of people all gunning to see who has the fastest times in the canyon. I'll be doing my best to keep the top times updated at the bottom of this post.
EVEN IF YOU DONT HAVE THE FASTEST TIME, POST IT ANYWAYS AND RACE WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Start/Finish Line Points:
-Lynx: Timing starts as soon as you pass the wooden "Lynx" sign at the top of the trail and ends once you exit the tree tunnel at the end of the trail (all the way past the last green bush on the right)
-5 Oaks: Timing starts when you hop over the dirt lump (next to the telephone line) at the top of the trail and ends when your front tire is past the first bridge at the bottom (the one right past the stairs). All lines on the trail are fair game
Rules: 1. No pennalties or handicaps for bike type, hikers on the trail, dropped chain, etc. 2. No putting up a time and saying "It should have been a 1:37 because my chain kept skipping" the time we see is the time that counts. 3. No fast-fowarding or stringing two videos of different runs together to make a faster one. We can all tell if youre fast-fowarding or messing with the video.
Sick, I think I covered it all. Get your virtual race on, fools!
