I'm looking to go short stem and wider bars on my Jekyll but I don't know HOW wide? I'm 5'9 190. I think I want a 50mm stem and was considering a 140mm BooBar. Any suggestions?

140mm? Do you mean 740mm?

I'm running a 750mm Bontrager Rhythm Pro at the moment. I have run 800mm and cut them down to 780mm in the past, but the 750mm feels better for me.

God knows where 810 came from. They are 750 :s

I'm sorry! I did mean 740mm. I'd love to go 750mm but will that wide start to take away from climbing efficiency/comfort? The trails I ride are fairly narrow and evenly split between up and downhill.

I would go wider than you think you want that way you can cut them down if it feels too much.

Go wide, then get some lock ons and try different widths by just moving them up and down your bars. When happy, cut your bars

haha I run 690! Now I feel a bit stupid now I see all these huge bars! I tries 800 once, but it felt like a chopper, but there again, I only do xc and medium DH so there is no need for bars that are almost as tall as me Smile If your buying new bars, make sure you get wider than you think you will need, you can cut long ones down, but you cant make thin ones wider!

This.

I use 725 but I'm on the east coast and our trees are hella close together. 680 on my XC bike. That's absolutely as narrow as I'd ever go.

780mm Kona DH bars. They feel awesome after ditching the stock 660mm bars.

750mm Rhythm Pro. Took a couple of rides to get used to it but now i can't ride with narrow bars because the steering is too twitchy.

i was running the rhythm pro but swapped over to Easton havoc carbon 760mm

I have a black market 50mm 0 degree stem with nukeproof warhead 760mm bars with a 38mm rise. They feel rediculously good for the decents and are not too bad for the climbs
