Soooo,
With the rise in popularity of the enduro a bug started on the "Sexiest AM/enduro bike" thread, so let's give it a try.

The rules are simple: "Talk about enduro".

That means:
1. Pictures (your enduro rig, your enduro vacation, great trail, or an awesome enduro related pic)
2. Trails (where you have been, where are you planning to go, dream rides)
3. Small reviews (equipment, what you take on a tour, advices)
4. Questions (stop wondering and star asking)
5. News
6. Ideas (have an idea for a new format? Post it, maybe someone will bi willing to help)
7. And so on...

So guys. fire it up!

EDIT: And just for clarification an enduro machine can be:
1. 26/605b: min 140 mm travel in the ass, and min 150 mm travel front. Max travel around 170 mm (with inclusion of few 175/180 mm enduros), 180 mm front allowed.
2. 29er: 130 mm
3. Hardtail: Need's to be strong enough to survive an enduro, 130 mm travel.

Ok ok, i can say i'm thinking strongly about organizing an Enduro event/tace next year..... more like Mini Enduro since the descents would be fairly short but fun, and 4-5 of them in a race.

I have the location, just need to finish the trails a bit, do signs and get lots of volonteers for the event Smile

One day, or a multi-day event?

I have a format idea. Something similar to the old Camel Trophy Rally's.
Group enduro.
Contestant's will be spit into groups (5-10), and must work as a group, also intergroup helping is allowed. The winner's is the group with the minimum cumulative time per group member.
Meaning that if your group falls down to 2 members and you have cumulative time of 5 days (just saying) you will be worse than a group that has 5 members and a cumulative time of 10 days. 2.5 days/member vs 2 days/member.
It's a multi-day event, and the group is responsible for all the on trail organisation, food and water provisions, repairs.
If a member of the group chooses to bail the group doesnt get a time penalty.
If a group forget's or abandons a member it's disqualified (highly unlikely).
No set trails, you have a start coordinate, and a end coordinate, it's your's to find a way using a map and any means necessary.
Each group will be given a GPS and a radio for communication with the base.
At each check point the base will wait for the group with set up tents, sleeping bags and a meal.

I'll post more details later.

that's more of an Adventure type event, i like it btw Smile

mine would be typical one day event with timed DH stages and un timed but with allowed time to get between the stages

i was thinking to do just a regular XCO type of race (several laps on the track, lap is about 7.3 km long with close to 200m of elevation per lap) but people would complain because it's too technical, so i don't know.....

Yeah I know, but I think that the format will allow more wide audience, and shift the focus more to the camaraderie and physical/mental endurance than to who has the more capable bike. Smile

As for your idea, I'm in, just depends how hard are the stages, since I do it on a modified XC hardtail. Smile And will be probably getting a Covert frame for a build after the next season. Smile

bring some dh in it and im game. 180mm bike will be overkill but for the hell of it. i would like more the mini dh format if possible. meassuring time is the biggest obstacle still.
