I know there has been a ton of threads like this befor but none of them answerd my questions. i am new to trials and want to know some tips on some basic skills like hopin on the back tire pedal kicks 180's that type of stuff
BUT! Since I'm such a f*cken nice guy. Here's a good source for good info on these very basic moves.
Youtube man!! Search it, love it. Save money.
[YT=http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=fo6Bklvu6EU]Your pedal kick [YT=http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=aRLi1U61u4g] hopping on rear wheel [YT=http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=iU8qKZZOKSU] 180s
I can sit here and try to explain how i do these things, but since I am a machinist. MY vocabularly consists of about 34 words and six of those are f*ck. So while I tell you how I do these things I do a hundred times when I ride, you'll probably be confused as hell.
so videos are the answer as you can see what people are trying to say. And since ryan leech is such a great guy who made this movie to help noobs. You have the best of both.
um thanks i gess sence i have dialup and the videos on my computer are real chunkie watching those are preaty much point less i think i go ahead and get that DVD
check out http://www.trials-online.com/ its got stuff on bike set up too. if you are as new as i started out, i found out how important good rear brakes, good rear hub and bike geometry are.
hopping on rear wheel is easy. First remove the wheel from the frame, stand driectly on top of it and jump up and down. BWAHAHAHA IM SO FUNNY!!!!!! I will tell u the only thing u need to know to hop on rear wheel is don't hold your brake down. You need to use it but don't hold it down the whole time. There are a million ways to 180 a bmx 180 is like a turning bunny hop. A trials 180 u kinda push backwards and punch the pedals. For pedal kicks just learn how to pogo the way I said and u will automatically learn how to pedal kick. Pogoing is like doing 10 trillion tiny pedal kicks on the spot.
I borrowed Ryan Leech's Art of Trials from a friend so I don't know the cost but I'd just buy it if I were you. There's lots of good stuff on it and it's nicer to see it on a big screen clearly rather than a small square on you computer screen. Plus the slow-mo on you dvd player can enhance the demos.

okay... first off, when you visit the trials online website... take a look at as many links as you can... There are PLENTY of forums there that explain in complete detail on how to move your body and what to do while moving... read read read practice practice practice... Trials isn't an overnight explosion of skill, it takes time, diligence, and an honest effort to do it. Also... if you are in pain at ALL before, during, and/or after riding trials, then take a break... Nobody rides well while in pain... Learning is even harder because you know you have done some things, but your body just won't commit... Here is a GREAT link for you to gander at and learn... It has helped me and a few others I have sent the very same link to... good luck, and keep us all posted on how you are fairing..http://users.aber.ac.uk/sjs99/bike/index.html.
