Yeah they are great. Extremly durable when compared to the competition. Perssonally I own a 888 and a boxxer. The boxxer is really nice for racing and the 888 was really more of an all around fork.
I would definatly consider getting a boxxer team** though. They are inexpensive and have more adjustments than the 888 for the price. ie. to get a 888 with the same amount of adjustments as the team it would cost you 300-400$ more depending where you buy it. As for the feel of the boxxer team, I prefer it. Just be prepared to service your fork a little more often than if you where to choose the 888.
I just got a brand new DH bike with white 888WC and this is the best fork I ever riden. If you are sponsored racer go for Boxxer WC but if not go with 888. Mine 888WC is a real racing fork not freeride. Not to plush but still fast enough to let you go fast trough roots and rocks but on the top of those roots and not inside every halls.
Give the kid a break. He was just asking a question about something he didn't know. Isn't that what forums are for? Not everyone is as knowledgable as you.

no,this kid started a moron thread. he deserves all the sh!t he gets
I do agree that the search function goes along way. There are a ton of 888, Boxxer, 40 discussions out there.
But since the thread is started... I think the 888 is an awesome fork! Crazy strong, easily adjustable (assuming you get the adjustable models) and buttery smooth. Plus the thing can take hits like no other!
