How is this possible, that 5 days after world premiere, there is no dedicated thread concerning latest generation of Reign 29 and Reign SX mullet?! To make your life easier, I link Giant's website and some initial "reviews and first looks" from several bike portals...
There will be Reign Advanced Pro 0 launched in March, AFAIR. It may feature (just guessing, I am not an insider anymore ) integrated stem/h-bar combo (seen on other bikes), rumored Fox wireless Valve suspension (can't recall where did I rear/hear that ), far better wheels than TRX2 and Shimano or SRAM wireless drivetrain and dropper. Question is, will these high end components allow to drop weight of the bike, significantly?? AVD PRO 1 tips nearly 15kg w/o pedals... that's... disappointing
My three cents... I currently rock my 2020 RAPRO29 with ca. 155mm rear wheel travel and two different forks: 140mm for all around and trail riding and 170mm for bigger stuff. With shorter fork I get (digitally measured) 66* HA and whooping 79* effective ST The bike with with XC carbon wheels, tires and pedals weighs about 12,8kg... I will check its weight with carbon enduro wheels, enduro Michelin tires and Shimano XTR Trail pedals soon. But accordingly to my calculations, it should be about sub 14kg mark... So, does it make any sense to add 1kg (comparing to '23 RAPRO1) for updated geometry, DT storage and 5mm of additional rear wheel travel?!
Build options are kind of a let down for me, at least in Canada.
Reign 1 will not be available and the value was killer.
Reign Advanced Pro 2 is really entry level and the Pro 1 is kind of fine, but X2 shock is unreliable and hate having mismatched SRAM & Shimano brakes/drivetrain. Complete XT groupset would've been awesome.

I have a 2020 Adv Pro 1 with Giant TRX1 carbon wheels and a few other parts swaps, but nothing that would make much difference to weight from factory spec. All up including pedals (Kona wah wah 2), bottle cage, pump mount etc its 14.3kg.
I'm sure the new Reign is a weapon, more capable and faster on rough enduro stuff and bigger hits, but for my mediocre level of riding I'm glad I got the 2020 with less travel.
Models and submodels are always sensitive to local markets, unfortunately. Tip no1 If you have anyone are local dealership, you can always ask, if they can import a model outside of an official line-up to Canada. Technically, it is possible. I did it, but I've been Giant employee at that time. Tip no2... I am also excited about RAPRO0 coming in March(?)... from what I can imagine, it may feature h-bar/stem combo for enduro riding... or at least current trail version; maybe another iteration of FOX Valve suspension system, CADEX components(?!); those ZIPP Moto(?) wheels with pressure gizmos, which are useless (IMHO), some other bells and whistles...

Great update when comparing to the old model.

I hear you Brother... there is so little difference comparing to what users have already achieved with 2020 frame generation, that it upgrade is really questionable. I have at most average pace on local and some foreign trails, which makes me think dropping few Ks on new frame is not worth the effort...

That always a sort of gamble, what you get on local market. People who decides (at least where I live), not always feel the groove... Ask local dealer to contact GU in order to order specific model from global line-up. In worst case scenario, they will just say NO

I’m just angry at how Giant shafted the US market. Again. Have to choose between bottom spec alloy or top spec carbon? Pathetic.
If they offered the alloy 1 here I would’ve been first in line at the shop to order one. Sick of Giant never offering their good alloy models here.
Wow! That's pretty crazy! The only thing, I think, I miss on my 2020 RAP is inability to mount latest AXS Transmission mech... it's not that I can even afford GX AXS but still
Is there any owner of that new frame ? Or any other 2023th frame with in-tube storage.. How is it? Some says it't not that usefull and/or comfortable...
