So heres the deal....I want a Long front travel hardtail Downhill/Trail bike.

I dont want anyone commin in here saying" Oh thats stupid, just buy a dually" Or anything like that.

So heres my idea for a spec list.

Frame: Banshee Morphine or NS Bitch
Fork: Hoping to get a 888. Probly using my Manitou Stance Kingpin for now.
Wheels: Front, Mag 30 Rear, Alex Wheels DX32(for wider tire tread contact)
Tires: Gazzalodi 3.0 Rear(to give a little squishness on the trails.), Specialized Eskar 2.3 Front
Cranks: Shimano Saint
Chain Guide: ????
Rear Derailluer: Sram X-9
Shifter: Also X-9
Brakes: 6"Rotor Rear, 8" Front. Both Hayes MX-2
Bars: Monkey lites
Stem: Doesnt really matter
Saddle and Post: Doesnt really matter.
Pedals: Kona Wah Wah(Same as Atomlab Trail kings only less money)

SO tahst my plan...I dont have alot of money for this build so thats the reason for the lack Lustre parts list.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks
-Phil.

you could also use a kona five-0 frame and you're going to want some more stopping power so go with the stroker trail or avid juicys

Well can the kona 5-0 Handle a 8"DC fork?

And as far as the brakes go i will be upgrading them as soon as i get the money together.

Frame: Banshee Morphine
Fork: Rock Shox Totem
Wheels: Dual Mavic 721s on your choice of hub.
Tires: Kenda Nevegal 2.5s.
Cranks: Truvative Hollzfeller
Chain Guide: E-Thirteen SRS
Rear Derailluer: Sram X-9
Shifter: Also X-9
Brakes: Avid Juicy fives
Bars: Any of the Easton series.
Stem: Easton Vice.
Saddle and Post: Generic Post and a WTB saddle
Pedals: Kona Wah Wah

That would be a good setup right there, very versatile.

Looks good....But the Totem is a little out of my league in terms of pricing! And why would you downgrade my cranks choice?

The coil version of the totem probably costs the same as a triple 8. As for the cranks, I run the hollzfellers on my v10 and love 'em.

Fair enough...

I was just thinkging....I love not only the look but the feel of a nice squshy reat tire and for My HT i want it to have a bit of give esspecially on larger obstacles(logs, rocks, large gnar roots) So i was going to keep my orional idea of the Gazza 3.0 on the rear but put a large marge rim on the back for that HUGE tire foot print which would allow me to run lower PSI with reduced chance of Pinch flats

Take a look, and flame all you want but ill probly go with this rim.

Gazzas are slow and have a shatty tread pattern. I downhilled with a hardtail and found 2.5" tires to be more than adequate.

mag 30 REAR and front...whatever used wheels. save money with the cranks and get better brakes...or just buy some used hayes 9 or something for dirt cheap

I dunno, but I wouldn't get an 8" fork on a HT anyway. Just go with a single 66

Alright, it's just my opinion. I'd just do a long travel single crown instead.

I may do so....But id really like to just stay with a 888 or a boxxer or something./

Sounds nice. How about a Banshee Scratch frame instead. I have one and it rides really well for an aggressive/DH frame. Banshee say it will work with up to an 8 inch fork, but I'm not sure how it would ride. I have just put a 66 on mine, its really slowed the steering so you have to adjust your riding style, but its good for the steeper stuff. Only problem is the BB as its a BMX shell so using gears might be a problem as some chain guides might not work.
