I am buying a 08 Cinder Cone for the Winter, Reason's being -

1) I can get it very cheap

2) They are light and seem to look strong enough for my XC needs

I want to know whether I can put a RS Pike 454 on it and will it still be in warranty? (The U-Turn will be set at 125mm or 95mm depending on the Warranty)

Before you all say, I know I will have to change hub ( While I am here, Please suggest a light, strong XC Wheels that have a 20mm Thru Axel on the Front)

Thanks

Gary

Also -

A Rockshox Lyrik will go down to 115mm travel, Will this be a better option Confused

Suggestions will also be taken from Marzocchi, Fox, Manitou etc.

i have an 07 cindercone, you most definately should not put a pike on it. it's not the bike for that at all. i have an Marzocchi MZ Race on mine. it's more of an XC bike than an AM bike.

Why not Put a Pike on it Confused

125mm will NOT put stress on the Headtube Confused

Also, Your bike isn't an 08

He said it was an 07 mate. Or do you mean there is a diff between the 2 frames???

yea it should be fine as long as you keep it at the standard 100mm...i would run a set of easten wheels,or just building up a wheel with 20mm axle in the front and run a mavic or dt swiss rim...

Why don't you just buy a bike that is more suited for your needs? By the time you swap the fork and wheels, you are going to be at least $600 in the hole. Take that money and buy a nicer bike to begin with. If you're doing XC, you don't need a Pike. It's a waste of weight, plus you have to get a new wheelset. Just buy a different bike.

well if you want a bikr similar to the cindercone but a bit tougher, i'd go with the hoss.

I am lookin at the Five-0

It is bomb-proof, I like it because I need the jumpability

Lower the fork to the lowest settings, and why wouldn't it work?

I am also having doubts about how it will handle my 'chuck about' riding style Blank Stare

I wasn't

Until I seen the Five-0 in my LBS, I fell for it straight away with its curvy top tube Fab
