Discussion forum for weight-conscious gravity racers. Post and talk about light-weight DH/4X parts, etc. If you post a question asking a question that I can find the answer to on one of the resources, I'll make sure a Mod sees it. Don't want this to turn out like the Street thread. DO NOT QUOTE THIS ENTIRE POST. I will edit this post to include all of the parts weights and resources. For me to include a weight, it MUST have a picture on a scale. If you have a resource you think may be front-page-worthy, please include a link to your specific post (if I don't see it in time, I have no clue how to generate the specific URL). Same goes for bikechecks.
sweet what is the weight difference between a full bashguard and taco? would it be worth the extra money?
Worth it...we need some information. Does your bike have ISCG-old or ISCG05 mounts? How often do you clip your chainring?
No extra money, as timlake mentioned. As for the weight difference, we can't really answer that without knowing the size of the chainring it would be protecting. And even then, no promises.

They aren't any extra money. The LG1 as a whole guide is a fair bit lighter than a SRS for example with a full bash.
o, ok, so weightwise though? how many lbs est. would be saved?
No Lbs, only a small weight saving. Do you smash your bash regularly? If you do, don't buy a light guide. As dubhex mentioned, it depends on a lot of variables, Chainring Size, Mount, 4 bolt, 5 bolt etc etc.

I can think of a few ways to do the same to the Norco.
Saddle - SLR of some sort Post - Masterpiece Pedals - MG-1 Ti Guide - weight-tuned LG-1, Gamut (not sure if this is lighter actually), Carbocage Cassette - Drop a few cogs off, run a custom stack of Ti road cogs Brakes - Something Formula is lighter, maybe The One, definitely the R1
And then little things....aluminum cassette lockring. Titanium bolts in the grips, cut off the flanges.
