I'd personally go with either the Canon HV20 or HV30. I think the main difference between the two is that the HV30 could shoot in 30p which means it was better for viewing on the web or something cause it wasn't interlaced, or something along the lines of that. I have used the HV20 in the past and I really liked it, it was easy to use and produced a very nice image. I would suggest either of these two camera's because they use Mini DV tapes and not flash memory, which in my experience is much higher quality. Also, your current camera uses Mini DV so there is no change to your work flow after the upgrade.

Here is a video that I made with the HV20 last year. Shot in 24p.

Here is another video that I made with the HV20. It's a slow mo test I did which turned out pretty well.

thanks alot man...i am definatly going to go with hv20...because it has the minidv's...what do you think of upgrading the lense to a wide angle...or better lense...

If you are going to put any type of lens on there make sure you get something legit, and not the shit off ebay. The cheap lenses have a tendency to cause vignetting on the image and also they distort the image. I learned the hard way haha.

There will be an IMMENSE difference in quality. The Elura 100 isn't HD. I own an Elura 80 and I have used my friends HV20 and the difference is so insane it's not even funny. I can't even stand to shot using my camera after using his.

Hey, I don't know how old this is but sorry to bring it back. I have a question as well. I'm looking into a camera and editing program mostly to film skating, snowboarding and biking. I looked into an HV30, HV20 or Sony VX2100. Once again I don't know too much so any help is aprreciated. Thanks

Go for either the HV30 or 20, the only difference is that the HV30 shoots 30P. You can probably score a HV20 now a days though for pretty cheap.
