Hey guys, I am looking to get a SX (non trail) frame and it does have one of those E2 headtube, which, I might be wrong, 1.5 bottom and regular 1 1/8 up.

Can someone explain this to me? Honestly, if I am right, this is pretty stupid, I had a '08 SX with a regular 1 1/8 headtube and a fox 36 and it was stiff enough.

So what happens with that case, what headset do I need? I hope I dont have to buy two!

no you just need the correct headset.

my guess on e3 is 1.5 upper and 1 1/8 lower.

Don't order an e2 headset as the standards are different. I was running a cane creek XXC flush that allows you to run a regular steerer tube. Now I have a tapered steerer fork in mine with a regular 1.5" cup in there. I have the sx you are talking about and I highly recommend it. The bike and the cane creek product that is!

whattheheel, I dont get it. A cane creek double xc flush is a 1.5 with reducer for 1 1/8 fork, it cannot fit a sx (at least the upper cup). Why do you say to not use a regular E2?
I see in your album you have one set up for both 4x and some pedaling, how do you like it? Can you have a full lenght seatpost on this frame?
Thanks and any additional info would be great!

cane creek sell the top and bottom of there headsets seperatley now so you buy a regular 1 1/8 top and a 1.5 to 1 1/8 reducer for the bottom to run an 1 1/8 steered fork.

Like he said cane creek is rad. Yeah I am running a longer seat post and rip it all around. This is my 3rd sx and they are a blast for everything. The e2 uses a bigger diameter so the bearings go up in the frame.

are you on glue? Do you know anything about why companies run a 1 1/8 upper and 1.5 lower?

I hope your comment was supposed to be sarcastic...
