Have this Farley 5 for 3rd winter now, just added Mastodon, took 1,4kg penalty ( with tubless conversion), but it is totally worth it in my opinion

Sweet Big Grin . Looks like you also swapped to shimano levers somewhere along the way? I just put 200mm rotors on my Sturgis. Worth the weight.

Yeah, got a sweet deal on set of XT, there are so many take offs around these days. All my bikes now run XT so I like that they all feel same and bleed is always perfect and takes 5 min. Put 180mm rotor up front cuz that is minimum Mastodon requires, other then that I've never felt like 160mm wasn't enough... there is usually not enough traction to justify bigger brakes.

One thing to be aware of, Shimano's "Wondering Bike Point" issue is actually amplified by cold weather. Not really sure if that changes anything for me, but cheap Sram Level I had stock on this bike never had any performance issues even at -25C. Again I still will take XT over any SRAM just due to easier bleed and perfect result every time, but this is something to know.

P.S. Just realized that I can now finally have only 2 different set of brake pads!!! This is huge, tired of having 5 different spare pads in my tool box Big Grin

Lucky. I just put a 203 on the front of my
Kona WO and I run a 220 on my Heckler.
It’s the first time I feel my brakes where enough.

Picked up a Rocky Mountain Blizzard A20 late January of '24 to start Winter riding on snowy trails. So far it is a blast.
