its a custom piece. Basically has internel threads for the pedals to bolt into, and extrenal threads to tighten it around the bottom bracket

yup. If you have the right tap you can even just screw the bearings into it

Bumping this thread as personally I've given up hope for a proper summer here in the UK and now looking forward to winter, currently building a new snow bike and will post pics when it's finished.

This was the first one I made and it's currently up for sale for anyone who's interested:

my snow bike from last year, i sold the frame and fork, so i'm tossing the ski's and mounts onto my STP with a little bit of modification to the rear mount and figuring out a better solution to the bunjies that failed and caused me to snap the front ski and break my wrist for the 3rd time
used my old aline frame as a snow bike worked pretty good till i broke my wrist
