250 sets is indeed very limeted and very expensive to buy.So i guess it's pretty pointless.Brembo makes sick brakes for cars & Moto's

Well it could be deemed useless to the people that don't wanna learn.

Whilst I am not a competitive DH racer.... anyone can cycle down hill ;-) However keeping on topic I have a lot of experience with braking and find a lot of the posts very interesting.....

Brakes do one job and only one job ! they convert kinetic energy in to heat energy by friction.

Muliple pistons of the same area as say 2 piston calipers will increase the braking effect over the braking effect of the 2 "pot" caliper, also multi pot having more pistons (smaller) also increases the mean radius that they work at.

The master cylinder bore, lever ratio will affect the fluid pressure which can and does have an effect.

The friction material, coefficient of friction, brake pads can be between 0.3 to 0.6 approximately (followed by the Greek letter Mu)

obviously the disc / rotor diameter has an effect as well.

To summarise

the pressure acting on the disc/s, number of friction surfaces, pad coefficient of friction, disc mean radius (remember multi piston above)

Personally i would like to see a set of dyno tests, and brakes are nothing without good tyres and proper use.

me ? well i have a 2010 Specialised with a 203mm 4 pot caliper, but then im a fat git :-)

The most powerfull DH brake ever....put your foot through your front spokes and fork.

LOL. hard to modulate that power though...

as of early last year, the two most powerful brakes on the market were the Formula R0 and Formula The One brakes.
Hope V2s were right up there as well in the Bikeradar tests.
http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/fitness/article/how-we-test-hydraulic-disc-brakes-24345/

the top 3 as of last March were all single piston.

as for the newest brakes coming out, hopefully more quantitative tests are done. I don't need any more power than my Formula the Ones, but it would be nice if the new Saints came close (with similar modulation). it's not easy to find Formula parts (I have to have them ordered through the LBS), making them a bit of a PITA for simple things like new pads....

i havent tried any of the new brakes but i have tried hayes nines, and avid codes and a couple others, and still i return to my ti6, may not be the most powerful but im not a heavy rider but have loads of modulation, look great, piece of p**s to service, and now that iv got the ceramic pads (instead of crappy sintered) i know every time i pull that lever im going to stop.
great piece of kit and havent got a bad word about them really

also tree brakes work excellent in any condition

Who makes ceramic brake pads for formula the one? Thanks

Couldnt agree more ^^^^^ Im 6ft9 and 255lbs. Ive ridden Saints new and old. Hopes new and old. Avids new and old....
Nothing remotely has come close to these and they are now on my 2012 V10c. Its difficult to find adapters but what I did was used the adapters I had and bought rotors that made it work. On my Fox 40 I have a 225mm rotor its huuuuuge and it looks awesome!
