sam hill ran boxxer WC's on his SX trail and raced it in sea ottar, that's cause the course was basically a short xc track.

His SX T is custom built for a Boxxer.

As in custom GEO

Well, it doesn't matter what amount of travel it has back, it all comes down to geo and set-up. My bike is a full blown DH race machine and it has still "only" got 7" of rear wheel travel. So would you say my Commencal Supreme has the same function as a SX trail because they have the same amount of rear travel? No!

no bu the weight does, and i know they didn't change it by much at all. if they wanted a bike with a DH geo he would've used his demo. that sx probably does have so minor changes, but not as much as you'd think.

i was gonna say bighit, but the bighit's shock goes straight into the down tube. the SX is pretty horizontal.

it's the same color as a stock sx trail... really wouldn't be surprised if it was off production line (the frame) i dunno if specialized would invest that much money into a bike sam will only use once or twice.

specialized has a bottomless R&D compartment compared to everyone else. throwing together a frame with a slightly changed headtube, seat tube, geo, etc... would not be hard at all. they probably experiment all the time anyways.

For Sea Otter many riders run smaller bikes.

For downhill the obvious choice is a fox 40, but I own an SX trail, which is more of a freeride bike. I have been doing alot of downhill lately and want a better fork than my marz 55. Should i upgrade to a fox 36 float, or upgrade to a fox 40 or boxxer team and just lower it?

get a fox 36 van man....its like the inbetween of float 36 and 40 cause its coil so its strong like the 40 but also gives you the versatility of a 36 float
