Switzerland is one big park Big Grin

Jokes aside, there are no 'good' bikeparks in switzerland (comparing with known bikeparks around the world), since they mostly don't have more than 1 trail to offer. In that regard you're better off riding selected gondola-accessed trails in wallis, bern or graubünden..

But since you wanted them listed:
Arosa
Haldi (Schattdorf)
Crans Montana
Gurten
Magglingen (Biel)
Verbier
Klosters / Gotschna
Bellwald
Wiriehorn
Flims
Laax
Lenzerheide
Chaumont
Monte Tamaro
and of course everything offered at portes du soleil (morgins, champery etc.)

Hope I got em all.

Hi all

I'm going to Switzerland in august to visit family
I will do only 2 days of mountain biking Confused :
so I would like the best spot!

one day XC with my girlfriend (that mean easy trail, not too technical): need bike and helmet rental
And one day DH (with chairlift, bike and protection rental)

I will be in bettmeralp the first 4 days, then around Luzern, but I don't mind going anywhere else

your suggestion are welcome!!!

Bettmeralp is right in the middle of Aletsch Arena and has some really, really good enduro trails with breathtaking scenery. Fiesch has a pretty gnarly DH trail and like FlowZone said Bellwald is a nearby bike park as well as Crans Montana. Both are my favs, but I would check out the trails near Bettmeralp, its like an enduro mecca.

It's also good to take into account that the Bettmeralp enduro trails are also very beloved by hikers, so if you go there, go during the week, you'll get the most flow out of them ;-)
The Fiesch DH is very steep on average and long (12+min if I remember right), but there are no huge drops nor very technical passages, if it was less steep it would be pretty easy, hope you get the idea.

thanks for the precision: it does help as I may be going there with someone less experienced than me.

this is my understanding for DH:
Bellwald and Crans Montana is more technical/diverse DH
Fiesch is easier DH, but steep and fun. (what does gnarly means?)

question: those 3 places has chairlift and rentals nearby?

For XC:
Bettmeralp is the place!

In Crans-Montana the Red Track isn't that technical. It's a nice track for less experienced riders. There is also a rental shop in the parking lot of the bike park (it's a bit expensive tho).

You can even go to Anzère (http://www.facebook.com/AnzereBikePark), it's 15 mins away from Crans (by car).

does the rental shop has good double suspension bikes?

It's a Kona bike park, so the rental fleet are Operators and Entourages.
You'll have to check the prices tho. The name of the shop is "Alex Sports".

If you stay in central Valais/Wallis, you'll have the following bike parks accessible in less than one hour by car:

- Anzère
- Crans-Montana
- Verbier
- Morgins / Champéry / Portes du Soleil
- Châtel (France)
- Leysin
- St-Luc
- Dorénaz (only go there during the off-season)

Of course you'll have also access to countless of freeride tracks as you can use the public transportation (bus, trains, etc..) as shuttles. Smile

If you have a car and plan to check every bike park, you can rent something in the valley (bed and breakfast, etc.), it's way cheaper than the usual resort prices.

@ captainob: most shops are that expensive. It sucks. Best way is if uve got your own bike.

As promised here are the pics from the aletschregion. (morn in my album)
Trail we did: Bettmerhorn - Riederhorn - Riederalp - Golme - Filet we did like 1800 downhill meters.
We hiked from Marjelensee to Bettmerhorn, which took us about 3 Hours due to lots of snow, but it was worth it. I've got only pics from the hike due to the awesomeness of the trail. There was a local who showed us the perfect route. I dont think u will find all the trails we rode without a guide Wink

Synchron stoppie in front of the glacier

a long wet snow field down. He made it D

those stone fomations are great

epic view. not more to say

walking up to bettmerhorn due to a lot of snow which is laying in the middle of june. it took us neary 3 hours to hike.

amazing, thanks for the pics.
I think I will forget about the DH then and just rent an all mountain. It seems to be more appropriate and fun!

I will be staying in the bettmeralp village for a couple days, is that where your trail start?

Do you know if there's some orginized allmountain tour?

I'm a little overwelmed by all the possibilities so I guess the easiest way is to go to the local shop and get information there!?

When did you plan to stay there exactly?
We happen to be in Riederalp/Bettmeralp with a bunch of people from august 4th to 11th. you might wanna join us for a couple of rides if you like. been there a few times and could show you some of the popular trails.

otherwise: bike shop's always a good start or just get yourself a swiss singletrail map for that region and you're settled. in my opinion you can ride in any direction you want from bettmeralp and you'll get a nice trail and a great view. so you possibly can't go wrong

good decision on the not-downhilling part Smile
