Baby steps. If you find your not comfy in the air, try and find a smaller set of jumps. I also find if you take off a little crooked, it throws your balance out alot. Being a racer that's required to jump 28 foot plus pro sets, I'd say 80% of your jumping would be about readyness for the jump. If you aren't 100% sure about it, you're not going to be as confident about it, and will probably throw yourself off somehow. It will naturally come to you, you just have to keep working at it step by step.
