The problem is that if I say to someone what I'm building, he'd say: "why are you making that circus bike for" And as much my LBS is willing to work with me, he still thinks I'm nuts.
P.s. Looks better with dropbars, although I love the look of bullhorns, I don't like when they are dropped.
Here's another conversion just got back from my brother after recently acquiring Spec'allez his loss... little longer and taller with shorter chain stays than the previous yellow frame

Well, I also got a 7-speed bike and as of now, I am also looking forward to convert it into Fixed gear bike. Hopefully, I'll be getting a new one in a day or two as it is tempting me too much after seeing the pics in this forum. I will sell my old one and will get a new one soon and then update those pics over here, very soon!
i have a front crank with 43 teeth I'm just wondering what the ratio would be for it for around the city
Depends on your personal preferences. Most people here prefer about 2.7 - 2.8, but I prefer around 3. 0 -3.2. Also really depends where you mostly ride.
Very inspiring thread. Might convert my road bike to single speed. Are mavic open pro rims on a shimano 105 5700 hub a good combination for single speed or should i invest in a real fixed gear wheelset? Also where would be the best place to sell the 105 groupset i have?
Well as per my promise, I am back here to let you guys know that I finally got what was tempting me. I wanted to be sure of what I've got, therefore, it took me time to respond but definitely, my experience with my new fixed gear bike has been superb. It gives me a happiness on two wheels while I am riding it. It took me a lot of time & patience to get the quality bike at a cheap cost but sure my search effort didn't go in vain. I found my best option at http://www.criticalcycles.com/
Firstly, I tried to convert my bike but it was taking much more expense than what I got for $219. So, it was appropriate to gt a new one!
I'm not sure if this has already been covered but, a very useful trick for converting old bikes into fixies without the need for a new rear wheel. I did this for my girlfriend and it works like a charm.
All you need is a lockring from a loose pack style BB, thread on ss cog and then crank down the lockring afterwards. works like a charm. (after removing old casstte obviously)
