Been running chain saws and other power tool since I was 12 years old. Something about my parents and other adults showing me how to use tools the right way from the start worked out every well.

At your age with no one teaching you how to use it dont get a chainsaw, your parents are right. when your older then get chaps some steel toe boots, and some decent gloves. also goggles or a mesh mask for comfort as much as anything.

Does anybody have advice for silencing a chainsaw?

I heard that you can run a PVC pipe from the exhaust into a bucket of water

Secret trails don't need a bunch of noise sending alerts to the neighbors!

electric chainsaw?

But you would still need a petrol generator for the electric supply so their would still be noise. I personally would use a wood saw or and axe it silent and safer.

and quiet generators...

but a generator would be stupid heavy to carry up to the trails but a rechargeable saw and a few extra batteries far lighter

a decent cordless chainsaw is around 300 and like 120 for new batteries...

must be a pissy lil thing.
plus for trail building means you gotta trek around with a petrol can and oil.
and weight difference between electric and petrol is considerable, especially a husky.
