Yep, 150 and thinking about an angleset and 160 fox 36... think Yeti/fox factory team sb5's. You can still crush DH on a short travel bike. Granted they get free bikes if they break one, but I'd rather get rowdy than be worried.

Isn't it more a case of voiding any warranty?

Yup. "Max fork travel" is a CYO measure. Don't make a habit of meter+ drops to flat and you should be alright. 2 cents

I broke a suntour that way. Or, cracked it. Then, broke it on flat ground as the crown had become a spring. "Watch how broken my bike is"... bounce, bounce, bou-snap

Had a clean tire tread pattern down my face after that.

you can indeed

Went to 150.... its great. Had to take some spacers of the stem though to keep attack position. $150 for a full service and dampener rebuild and a new 150 air spring, two day turn around... good ole LBS hooked it up.
Your love it, I've long shocked mine now with a 200x57 float x evol so got about 145mm rear travel now with plenty of tyre clearance. Rides great with the 150 upfront

I did not think it was possible to increase the rear travel on the 5010, but maybe that is because I have the 2015 model. I would love to put a 200x57 coil on mine but I thought that was out of the question. Is it possible?

Don't see why not if you have a friend or shop with a 200x57 to test fit with no spring or no air to check tyre clearance. then your good to go
