He's right about it, though I guess he was also joking a little. Wink Here's an excerpt from an old sticky that I made on the previous forums:

[Quoten]First of all, one of the criteria is to be able to set a good example for the community. Moderators are hired if the administrators feel that they need more people to help keep the forum clean and working properly, people who are responsible and can be trusted, who are dedicated and who are willing to spend time to make Pinkbike an awesome community.

Second, you don't apply, they take you up on the team if they feel it is appropriate.

Third: we're saturated with moderators and we feel that we are able to cope with the forum in a timely fashion with the current set of moderators so we are not seeking anyone new.

Therefore, please do not ask to become a moderator, only the most dedicated people are chosen and the staff team is already full.[/Quoten]

I hope that helped. Wink Basically, you need to be a contributing member, a responsible person, someone who's ready to dedicate time and effort to make Pinkbike awesome and just help out in general, whether that's someone complaining about a ban, asking about a glitch with 16:9 rations in the video section, or beta testing new features.

Well... do you know how to delete a thread (one of mine--that I made), because people complain that their are too many, and some of mine are now useless, and I want to delete them.

You can't do that yourself, but if you wish to have some deleted just post their links here and I'll do so right away.

I hope you don't mind me voicing my opinion, but I'd say those threads are perfectly OK; I'd rather leave them, they seem like they contribute to the forums so it's all good. Smile Are you saying some people complained because of the amount of threads you made? It doesn't matter, as long as they're not useless or spam.

OK, I'll leave them. No, some people just complain (not just on my threads) that their are too many threads, so I just thought: Well, since no one has added anything to my threads for a while, they are useless (might as well delete them)... But you are right, I should probably let them their.

Don't worry, I'd say your threads are well above the average quality here. Wink Don't mind what others say.

What is a MOD. I noticed that some users have that under their display pictures, when they post something in the forums. I am sort of new to the site, and I always wondered what it meant. Thanks.
It means that we pwn you all!11!111!!!!!

But really as mentioned we are the ones that are in "control" of the site. We get rid of all the garbage, get rid of the idiots, and just overall try to keep the activity on the site positive.

A list of all the Mods, Admins, and Staff of PB can be found here.

alot of those MOD's don't even post much(well not what I can see) the Member Of Day is a good oneSmile haha

Just because those mods don't post alot doesn't mean they aren't here doing behind the scenes work.

I personally don't post alot, but I do alot of moderating.

Another variation of this is that someone posts a lot in the Moderator Lounge but very little outside of it. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes guys, just because we nailed that scammer/advert/whatever before you saw it, it doesn't mean it wasn't there. Wink
