I have a small DEMO 8. Mine come with 8.75*2.75 shock, with a 400*2.80 spring. Stock spring for size M is 450*2.80. I got that information form the manual.
I guess it all depends on the kind of terrain you usually ride. I rode mine in the Low BB setting all year and really loved it. I usually do a mixture of tech stuff and fast stuff. I find that the lower bb and slacker head angle make the bike more stable at high speed, and it rides through the berms much better. There were a few times where I would have preferred the bike in the higher setting, but I prefer sticking with one setup all year and getting use to the way the bike rides.
So what about rock garden and drops? How do you feel about these at low setting? I feel the BB too low in rock garden, and head angle too slack when dropping. Anyway, I'll try the low BB setting for a while. Because I think maybe it's just because I moved from a Norco Atomik to the DEMO8, and I'm just not used to the low BB and slack angle.

Low BB can be tricky at certain times, but if you learn to ride with it low, you can always adapt. I don't tend to hit my bashguard too often, but I've been riding with a low bb for quite some time now.
