i was just wondering could someone tell me what kind of oild should i use when changing oil in my 888 rc2x? 2006 model ? cheers

u would need an oil with a rating of 26.1 cst@40*C(or close to)...u can buy the marzocchi 7.5wt oil but they are rebadging golden spectro cartridge fork fluid (125/50 very light) and selling it at a higher price

here's the oil volume chart for 2006 forks

yes u could actually...older marz forks tend to run a little better with a heavier oil...a fox 7wt oil is rated at 31.82 cst@40C (which is actually torco rsf medium)

It's a good practice to NEVER go by the label wt. Always use the Viscosity Index, or VI. Variiis put it well with the statement about cSt@40C. I always use Red Line Oil, it has some of the highest Viscosity Index numbers of all oils, only equal is Silkolene PRO RSF. In laymen terms, the higher the VI, the more your oil will not be effected by outside forces, heat, etc. I use a mix on my 2008 888 RC3 WC which is 37% Red Line Yellow, and 63% Red Line Red. For my weight I run 310cc of oil, and my fork is creamy.

Here is a link for Red Line in the U.S. at the cheapest prices:

Cheers

Right been looking for the past few hours and cant find what weight oil i should be running in an 07 888 RC2X VA. I have found the volumes from marzzochis website which is 240cc's in each leg but nowhere do they mention the oil weight. Any idea what in them stock as thats what im pretty sure is in them as although i got them second hand im sure they never been pulled apart.

Thanks for any help.

Hey ! As far as I have read and heard the thicker the oil the slower your rebound and compression will be. I have a drop off triple and run Amsoil full synthetic 10wt ... I weigh 170# and is perfect.. Buttery smooth and does not top or bottom out... For anyone heavier I would use a 15wt or higher. But the 7.5wt (stock) is too light. You can even mix say 10wt and 15wt and will end up with 12.5wt ! Hope this helps...
